My opinion on something one of the mods did...

I just want to go on record that I disagree with the moderator's decision to delete the Vargas link in RoundEye's thread:

This occurred on 9/2/02 @ 11:30 p.m.

I got the link and it's added to my Favorites, so it's not a big deal, but I guess the fact that it had to be deleted, as if it was viewed as some porn link, irks me.

I understand the "no nudity" policy here at SG, and agree with it, however I would like to think that tasteful nude art would be an exception, especially when it happens so infrequently and was in context with the thread's subject matter - RoundEye's domain and the upcoming plane "nose art" he was looking for. It certainly wasn't posted for prurient interest.

I posted this here because:

1. It seemed to be the appropriate place.

2. It's not frequently visited and I didn't want to make a big deal out of it by posting this in the General Discussion Forum and generating a dicussion on the subject.

3. I didn't know who was moderating at the time.

I understand that these decisions are not up for debate, I'm just expressing my displeasure.

Keep in mind that the boards are supposed to be all age oriented, and nudity of any sort would be riding the razors edge, and why flirt with potential distaster when some bliss-ninny gets unravled at her 13 y/o son/daughter lays orbs on some nudie from WW2?

Yeah, pandering to the lowest common denominator, but in situations where the continued viability of the site is in question, why not make the safe play?

Thats my take on it, I'd be more willing to squelch a tad of content, in favor of being 100% legit.

I see your point, brembo. Perhaps I'm sticking to my principles a little more than I should with this one.

You're probably right about playing it safe for viability, I'm just touchy about censorship. Then again, it's not MY site that's at stake.

Ghost, I was the one that jerked it. The reason being somewhat as brembo stated and also because the site itsef had a link to soft porn.

You do what you have to do.:)
