Ok...I have my own hosted website with a crappy provider and I figure I could do better on my own except that I dont know how to. I have a Cisco 675 router that holds the IP...All the computers are connected through it with a Linksys EtherFast 10/100 Workgroup Switch...basically all the network cards go into that that thing and another one goes from it to the Cisco router so all of my computers have DSL. I have 2 good computers and a relatively crappy one that noone ever uses. My goal is to host my website on the crappy computer. My cousin tried helping me but it didn't really get anywhere because he said that the IP was in the router...I am wondering if it is possible. And if it is possible what would I need to get and do. Once I have that set up what would I need so I can hook it up with a .com name, DNS and all of the other goodies?
sorry if this isnt totally DSL related...but a big part of it is getting past the firewall and the router...because it does hold the IP.
