shooters i think dont count cuz the next one really replaces them. like i could say UT is timeless, but UT2 will riun that thought.

damn, i haven't plyed Zork since probably 1982 or 83. gotta love those text-based games.

i would have to add Ultima I, II and III. and the Wizardry series (same time frame. round about '85 to '87).



as far as newer games?

Half-Life/Counter Strike
UT
any of the Quakes.

faust, how do u find UT HL/CS and Q to be timeless? u dont think there time will be up after another newer version is made?

heh, no problem, man. since i have played it for so long, i think it would classify as "timeless" to me. timeless in the scope of personal computing i mean. close to 3 years is a long time to play what is essentially the same platform.

too bad it became such a cheat-fest. it's better now, but i got too sick of it for awhile and strayed to other games. still play on occasion, thoguh.

I know you want to keep FPS games out...but Duke Nukem 3D will be timeless for me. So radically different from other shooters. Such deep social satire and humor hidden in the game, lots of little easter eggs.

And who knows if it ever will have a newer version come out in our lifetime.

And I have to add Quake 1.....since it really brought online FPS gaming to what it is today. And LAN parties.
