I am probably in the minority, but I bought the game for $50 and probably only played 4-5 hours before I just got bored and quit totally.

Do you remember Daggerfall? It is like that, but personally I think it is worse. Well yes it has much better graphics, but I think the combat system stinks in Morrowind. There is no journal, unless they patched and made some changes.

There definitely is hundrdes, no thousands of little quests, and I think is probably the biggest RPG ever, but I just think the controls and interface, ruined form something I was really interested in.

There is a journal and the game has always had one, although it's not organized by task or quest but rather by the in-game date in which it's given to you. Clumsy, really.

The battle system is very weak, too Hexen-like.

The problem with Morrowind is that it's TOO non-linear, which can lead to extreme frustration since it's vital to speak to literally hundreds of people to figure out what to do next. There are far too many "go and fetch this to get this other item" quests that end up making your wrists tired, and the game suffers from performance issues even on high-end systems.

I became bored with it fairly quickly as well, so I loaded up a couple of cheat codes and ran to the final enemy lair and beat the thing.

I've played more than 35 hours on it and I've barely even started the main quest. Maybe check out some of the Morrowind sites to see what you think of it. It is too easy to get side tracked though. There are tonnes of mods out already as well.

I like all the Elder Scrolls series games so far. I played Arena back in tha day and then Daggerfall (senior year of high school) and Morrowind I just beat last night. I think in some ways, Daggerfall was the best, but overall I think Morrowind is less buggy and has the best graphics. Open-ended, first person, and single player.. Everything I look for in a good RPG. The only thing is now that I've beaten Morrowind, I don't have any motivation to do any more quests.... on to the next game I guess..

I don't like too many other RPG's. Baldurs Gate & Neverwinter Nights lacks that "in the game" feeling you get when you walk around in first person.
