For all you NT people out there

I am not a IT person. I am a corporate pilot by trade. However since i know more about pc's than the other pilots, by default, I am thier IT person. I have a netwrk set up win 2000 server and about 14 workstations running win nt 4.0.

I saw the strangest thing that i have never ever seen before. One of the workstations ICONS has changed. The all have open folders embeded onto of all the icons except the ones that come standard on nt. ( my computer IE breif case ect...) does any one have any idea what this is. this work station has 5 users on it all together and every user has the same problem

Couple of methods...the first one worked for me, haven't had a chance to try the second method.

1)Right Click the Desktop==>Properties==>Effects==>Uncheck "Show icons using all possible colors"...apply. The redo that. Rebuilding them worked for me.

2)In your Windows or WinNT directory, find a hidden system file called ShellIconCache...delete it, log off, log on. Apparently it's just a cached file to rebuild them quicker....that sometimes gets corrupted. I haven't had a chance to try this fix yet, but have read it in many places.

I've done the ShellIconCache trick before and it has worked in this situation.

I did step number one and it fixed the problem
