I'm on a DSL line that goes through a Dlink 701 and I can't connect to any Internet games. The game always says something about a connection problem or that i was disconnected. I can never seem to get to the actual loading page either it always waits in the green "connecting" page.

The game does work fine otherwise. I've successfully hosted games and play on other people's servers on my own LAN.

I read elsewhere that I had to open up specific ports to be able to connect and I also read somewhere else that I shouldn't have to open any ports at all.

To open ports I was under the impression that all I had to do was open the dlink config utility and use my comp's ip as the virtual server and apply the advised settings.

Am I doing something wrong here? Is there anyone else behind a 701 that has been able to connect to internet games?

Thanks for the help,

Dayne

I have a router but it's a linksys but to play games you don't need to open any ports. I don't think so.

It's just the demo's problems.. I get that sometimes... what are your computer specs? Most of the servers I go to lag like hell and then it'll say "Connection Problem" .. it's actually the server side..

all the good servers are always full so it's hard to get to actual loadign screen. That's because when u play with yerself u odn't get it cos it's close..

So in short, it's the demo and the server not the conenction

Thanks for the info, I'll try to connect to the servers again and see if I can find a good one this time. My sys specs are below if that explains anything.

Windows XP Pro, Tyan Tiger 100,
dual P3 800, 1 GB ram,
leadtek geforce 4 ti4400, Sound Blaster Live! 5.1,
1 60GB IBM, 2x45GB IBM RAID 0,
16/48 dvd-rom, pioneer dvr-104
768/128 verizon dsl

I'm hoping the situation will improve a lot once the game actually comes out.
