View Full Version : system restore
I have been having problems with my machine so I thought that I would do a system restore. Well I tried but keep getting the message that "unable to do a system restore at this time, please restart the computer and try again". I've tried this 3 times but keep getting the same message. Help, anyone??????
have you tried doing it in safe mode ?, press f-8 to get into it and choose enable vga mode in the options.
this is with windows XP right ??

let us know if that does not work for ya, welcome to speedguide
The Snake,
I'm sorry to say that I still am unable to create a restore point. I also noticed that all the restore points that were automatically created have all been whipped out. Wether I did this or not I could not say. After I heard from you last night I was speaking to my brother. A self proclaimed "computer guru". He is as baffled as I am. Thank you for your help!!!!
Chris
sorry i am no guru either but are you sure system restore is still turned on? I know in XP that you can turn it off, not sure about ME though.
I thought that you may be onto something, but I went into System, File Properties, Troubleshoot. And the check box that allows you to disable Sysrestore is not checked. It just seems very odd to me that it would all of a sudden stop functioning. But thanks for your assistance.
Chris:confused:
Have you gotten this update (http://download.microsoft.com/download/winme/update/16372/winme/en-us/290700usam.exe)
This page (http://www.windows-help.net/windowsMe/system-restore.html) might have some info that'll help.
Yes, that seemed to have done the trick. Thank you Lewis!!!
