If you are installing from a CD ROM - try copying the files to your HD and try the install from there.

Check to see that the cd itself isn't smudged, dirty. Also if you have a cd-rom lens cleaner, or at least blast some compressed air into the cd-rom....perhaps the lens itself is a bit dirty.

Temporarily turn off your anti-virus. Dunno your systems specs, if resources are low or not.

And have you scanned for a virus, with a recent and fully updated anti-virus.

I tried copying all the files from the cd-rom to my HD than running it, but still doesn't work.

I don't have an anti-virus installed
its ok cause I disabled the windows script so virus can't run

I'll try cleaning the cd rom then running it

You shoudn't disable things you don't understand.

Viruses don't need scripting support, but a lot of installs do.

then I guess the website that gave me this info was wrong than

besides even if I had thw win script installed, it still doesn't work.

Since it was installed already, you could try Control Panel, add/remove software.
Office should be in the list, and when you try to add/remove it, a page will come up with option to repair, reinstall, or remove.

I tried it already but office 2000 is not in the add/remove list.
