HELP! i just got 256k dsl from zoom dsl, and the highest speed ive ever been able to download at/get on speed tests is 30k/sec. i dont know what the problem is, it might be that i used to have cox cable internet, which might have changed some settings or something. below is the answers to the questions asked:

1. i downloaded tcp optimizer.

2. i have dsl

3. zoom dsl 256k down 128k up (www.zoom-dsl.com)

4. current settings although ive changed it around alot and it always stays at around 30k/sec (note it says i am a cox high speed internet customer, so i was thinking maybe there is some cox thing optimized for cable internet that limits the dsl):

TCP properties for IP = XXX.XX.XX.XX (fltg-dslnat41.fltg.net)
Browser/OS = Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 98; Cox High Speed Internet Customer)
Note: Read the FAQ if the above is not your IP address.

TCP options string = 020405b40103030201010402

MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which equals MSS.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 256960
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 2 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 64240
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 10278.4 kbps (1284.8 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 4111.36 kbps (513.92 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 19 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

5. 30k/sec, sometimes less after changing the mtu and rwin values, but ive changed stuff alot after reading faqs and stuff, so i think there is something else wrong.

6. windows 98

thanks very much for all your help, it is very frustrating getting 30k/sec download speeds when i should be getting at least over 100k/sec with a good connection.
THANKS IN ADVANCE!

dude...you have 256K DSL...you aint ever gonna get over 30K d/l.

You need to drop that RWIN way down since your caps are so low. I feel sorry for you dude...that is hellaexpensive for such crappy service (low caps)
