Well basically when I go to start > all programs > accessories > system tools > system retore

It tells me I haven't got enough space on my C: and I should run disk clean up, but I infact still have 9gb left.

Try deleting any old restore points you have and see if that fixes it. Remember you can assign more disc space for system restore if need be.:) ;)

To delete all but the most recent one, click Clean up under System Restore on the More Options tab.:)

Did you reboot after deleting the old ones? You shouldn't need to but it's amazing how many things a simple reboot will fix.:)

On the same note always remember the 4 R's of computing...... Reboot, Reinstall, Reinsert and Reformat. It's kind of a joke but it usually works in that order (with all kinds of troubleshooting inbetween).:)

Thanks Mnosteele, I adjusted it to give me 12% of my drive space, but still nothing...sigh.

Mohan-san take a look here (http://search.support.microsoft.com/search/default.aspx?Catalog=LCID%3D1033%26CDID%3DEN-US-KB%26PRODLISTSRC%3DON&withinResults=&QuerySource=gsfxAdvancedSearch_Query&Product=winxp&Queryc=system+restore&Query=system+restore&KeywordType=ALL&maxResults=25&Titles=false&numDays=) and see if you can find a solution.:)

Thank Mnosteele, its probably just a problem with me copying deleting or editing a file that was monitored by the sys restore.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur when the following conditions are true:
A drive that is not a system drive that has System Restore enabled on it has reached less than 50 MB of free disk space.

A copy, delete, modify operation was made to a file that is monitored by System Restore on such drive.
This will cause System Restore to suspend across the system.

Ahh well...Thanks for your time anyway.
