View Full Version : Help me tweaking my connection
My download speeds are around 1600 kbps now they use to be around 2000-2200 kbps but my upload speeds have gone up a little bit by 4-5 KB/s.
These are my stats .. plzz help
TCP options string = 020405b40103030201010402
MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.
MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which equals MSS.
Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 256960
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 2 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 64240
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)
bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 10278.4 kbps (1284.8 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 4111.36 kbps (513.92 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON
Time to live left = 47 hops
TTL value is ok.
Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF
Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON
IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000
I have win xp and Cox with 3000/300.
Do you turn everything off, the hog, system restore:
In IE, go to Tools, internet options, connection tab at top, LAN settings at bottom, nothing should be checked in this box, NOTHING, No auto detect, no proxy, no automatic configuration script, NOTHING, REBOOT:)

For CABLE MODEM only, NOT DSL
RIGHT click the connection icon on desktop (Properties or Connections) and selecting Properties.
If this is an ethernet connection, and if your cable modem's ethernet interface is not specifically listed as capable of full-duplex working (see list), click the button Configure below the adapter name.
Click the tab Advanced to bring it to the front:
In the Property box, the property name to be selected varies according to model of ethernet card. Examples are: Network Link Selection, Media Type, Connection Type, Duplex Mode, or any similarly-named property which can have Values looking like Auto-Negotiation, or 10BT, or 10BaseT.
In the Value box, select a value which either (a) explicitly says half-duplex or semi-duplex, or (b) at least does not say full-duplex [e.g. 10BaseT on its own is OK]. If there is a choice between 10 and 100 with half-duplex, choose the 10. Do not choose 10Base5, 10Base2, or AUI.
Click OK to exit the Adapter settings.
Click OK to exit the Connection properties.
Close the Network and Dial-up Connections window.

Amit I see we are neighbors:), where in Chesapeake do you live? I live in Greenbrier. I have tweaked MANY Cox connections so try the following, first download Cablenut from my signature and try the following settings:
DefaultReceiveWindow = 384000
DefaultSendWindow = 32768
DisableAddressSharing = 1
InitialLargeBufferCount = 100
InitialMediumBufferCount = 240
InitialSmallBufferCount = 320
LargeBufferSize = 81920
MaxFastTransmit = 64000
MediumBufferSize = 15040
PriorityBoost = 0
SmallBufferSize = 1280
TransmitWorker = 32
FastSendDatagramThreshold = 4096
EnableFastRouteLookup = 1
EnablePMTUDiscovery = 1
IgnorePushBitsOnReceive = 0
GlobalMaxTcpWindowSize = 64240
MaxFreeTcbs = 8000
MaxHashTableSize = 16384
MaxNormLookupMemory = 5000000
SackOpts = 1
SynAttackProtect = 1
Tcp1323Opts = 0
TcpLogLevel = 1
TcpMaxDupAcks = 2
TcpMaxHalfOpen = 100
TcpMaxHalfRetried = 80
TcpRecvSegmentSize = 1460
TcpSendSegmentSize = 1460
TcpTimedWaitDelay = 30
TcpUseRFC1122UrgentPointer = 0
TcpWindowSize = 64240
MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server = 40
MaxConnectionsPerServer = 20
DefaultTTL = 64
DisableUserTOSSetting = 0
TcpMaxDataRetransmissions = 6
DefaultTOSValue = 92
Also add the following line to your registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\AFD\Parameters
BufferMultiplier - DWORD - hexidecimal value of 400.
Also read the Help & Tips link in my signature and try the other tweaks. The above are my personal settings and should be perfect for you. Hope it helps.
:D ;)
Will you stop everytime I post you want someone to go to another site and download someone's else's program, again this is SG:)

I'm sticking by what I said:mad:. Funny how you continuosly post new Cablenut settings for people to try and all of a sudden they aren't good anymore? Please try and be consistant with what you recommend for people. Oh yeah.... I can post anything I want unless one of the Moderators asks me not to and I don't think you are a Moderator. So mind your own business.:rolleyes: :rolleyes:
You want this to become DSLR #2, fine, outa here
