Hi! Since I just had dsl put it and cable moved out, It's time for a router! I have a linksys nic and the linksys router is more attractive then the D-link, but which is REALLY better.
The d-link's are on sale very cheap, that's why I'm asking.
Well, the linksys's are on sale pretty cheap too.
I'll have enough money for the D-link sooner, think it's worth the wait for the linksys?
Hi onetrueday:
I have had both routers and they are good. I had a linksys for a while but failed suddenly after a year of use. Now I am using a D-Link DI-704P and is working smoothly, no problem at all.
Bot of them are very easy to set up.
Greetings,
Galeno

onetrueday: I don't know if one is better than the other, you see a lot more people on here with linksys, so if I had to pick between the two I would get the linksys. But if you’re not in a hurry try to get a netgear or nexland , they cost a little more but in the long run you will be happier

For home routers (meaning not SOHO or higher class)
Nexland ISB SOHO....favorite brand, stable, fastest out there, very easy to use web admin, cost under 150 bucks
Netgear...quite fast, very stable, kind of dry web admin features, more advanced functions done through the old telnet. Company makes some solid, high quality products.
Linksys...of the entry level routers, it's affordable, incredibly easy to use, "OK" performance. Earned a reputation for being buggy a few years ago, due to immature firmware, but Linksys has really matured the product. Quite stable now.
Much as I like 3COM for their products, I'm not crazy about their router. All other brands in the home market, I'm not crazy about. I think of DLink as something you'd buy at WalMart...quality wise. For home market routers, I've had hands on with DLink, Belkin, Assante, SMC, Cayman, Netopia, 'n UMAX.
