Since Nutscrape 6 came out, I've stayed with IE....used to like Netscape back in the 4 days, up til 4.6 or so. But since IE 5.5 came out, IE's been great. And since Nutscrape moved to that gekko engine with 6.0....yuck. Then what, AOL bought them, so it's even more gunked up now?

IE 6 is a stable browser, at least for me.

I used to use Netscape a long time ago, but it was very crash-prone. Haven't tired any of the newer iterations of Netscape since IE 6 is so good. :)

Plus, IE 6 works in conjunction with your OS, if you're using a Microsoft OS, that is.

The inexplicable Netscape 6 totally ruined me as a user. I'd been using Netscape since my first web browsing experience back in 1995 -- I've always loved its HTML-based bookmark system, much faster than IE's IMO -- but once they moved to the "much faster" Gecko engine I've stayed far away. Even being free I have no desire to have it installed. Sad, really, since its only real past problem was some HTML incompatibility.

I was just thinking on giving it a shot. Just good to try something new. Sick of looking at the same old IE6 bar and was seeing what others thought of netscape. Never used, My first PC 266 mhz w/ 32mb of ram (LOL), had it insatalled on it i at that time it was all i knew. But then i went with IE cause it was such a bully that it made things alot easier to use IE. Never used netscape again.

Netscape 4X browsers suck because they do not support newer DHTML or CSS. (over half of all new websites use dhtml & css)

Netscape 4X browsers also suck at handling javascript.

Netscape 6X are better at javascript, support DHTML and CSS, but it too has drawbacks. ALL Netscape 6X browsers are BETA. The Mozilla team is disorganized and fight amongst themselves over what should and shouldn't be worked on or improved, rather than just trying to comply with W3C.ORG (http://w3.org) Standards.

Tips for using Netscape 6X browsers:

1. Do a custom install instead of the default.
2. Opt NOT to install Communicator (mail client).
3. Install Sun Java.
4. Do NOT install AOL Instamt Messenger or Real Player.

Netscape 6X installs sneak AOL shortcuts in your IE Favorites Menus and Start Menus. Delete them.

After installing, delete ALL AOL files and folders in the Netscape directory.
