View Full Version : What is it exactly
Ok...call me stupid....go ahead <*grin*>
I joined speedguide several months ago to tweak my cable modem connection.
Then I read about the speedguide teams and using my idle cpu time for someone to do various research on stuff that's over my head.
So, I just joined the Folding team. I installed the software and set it on "ask me first" so I could see when some activity would take place. I haven't seen anything yet.
Could someone explain this software that I downloaded and also how will I know if I'm helping out with cpu time?
Thanks for your time.
Billy.

This program runs using idle cpu cycles. The "normal" config is to set the program up to connect whenever necessary, especially if you have a calbe modem or dsl. To attain maximum results, make sure you start the program each time you start your computer, and if possible, leave your computer on 24/7. Also, it would be preferable to download the latest F@H software, currently version 3.xx. When starting the program for the first time put in your user name, team 15 for Speedguide. then just hit enter for the other choices as this should work for most users. You should see results within about 24-36 hours if you do this. Welcome to the team. If I have missed anything, I am sure someone else will point it out. Good luck.
edit: To see how you are helping out, you can check the stats page: just look for your user name on any of the several pages listed in the info post at the top of the forum. Hope this helps.

Hey bejane,
It is a prog that runs in the background using your unused resources. It slows itself down when you open other progs, game, etc...
When it finished work, it sends the results to Stanford and gets more work. You can let it run with out permissions, safely.
If you need more info, let me know! :)
Thanks for your interests!! :)
Thanks
I have it running on auto
