Sometimes when I boot up my PC I get a message that says "Operating System not found". This is really wierd.

thats not wierd, its your boot menu
This is an indication that your hard disk has failed, that the operating system (Windows 98) is damaged or that there are missing operating system files. If it's either of the latter, you will need to attempt to reinstall Windows 98. You can reinstall Windows 98 by placing the CD into the CD drive and turning on the computer. Some vendors don't include an operating system CD with their computers but instead give you a System Recovery Disk. This disk (usually on CD) will return your computer to the exact state as when you purchased it. Just placing the disk in the CD drive will start the recovery process. If you are experiencing an actual hard-disk failure, seek help from a local service center or the actual manufacturer of the computer.

run scandisk and have it map out bad sectors. This could also be caused by corrupted files. Try putting a fresh set of system files on the drive IE "sys a: c:" in dos. You will need a floppy with system files on it.

The retail disk won't work anymore because I says that I am not running a HP computer.

Other than the once-a-month failed bootup my system works perfectly fine. :)
