MTU Question

Hello :)

I've seen few sites who say to set MTU at 1435.
The explanation is : ADSL modem don't process correctly with packetsize larger than 1436.
So they say to set MTU at 1435 and pathmtudiscovery off.

Sounds like hogwash to me. Most ADSL 'modems' that are NOT on PPPoE can use an MTU of 1500. Most ADSL 'modems' that are on PPPoE can use an MTU of 1492. There are multiple other factors that might influence the size of the MTU that you can use, but simple being on ADSL is not one of them.
