Well, After hearing that MadDoc was going to write a story, I decided to join the Folding team. Unfortunately, after leaving it on my computer/server, it racked up almost 1 GB of bandwidth transfered, which is about like 1/20 of the bandwidth i get per month. So unfortunately, as of right now, I cannot keep on folding until my family moves out of the basement. :( Hope my small 1 WU made a little contribution though. ;)

Sorry to see you leave, but I understand how you feel. I stopped for a while due to an oversized electric bill.

1 GB, like in Gigabyte of transfers for one WU ??? Impossible, WUs are less than 1 Megabyte, or people without broadband wouldn't have a chance.

Hey Funky,
Something else is eating up your bandwidth...

Head over to Security Forum and post as you have a trojan, spyware or auto update going nutz... ;) Perhaps you are using one of the mp3 sharing progs...

Run AdAware and see if you are loaded with spyware...
Get it here, free ;)

[Dr Evil]Um, Yeah, Right[/Dr Evil] the WU's are somewhere around 10kilobytes maybe even less and most of them take ~2-5 hours to complete. So I highly doubt that Folding is the cause of your problems.

Truth is, I left folding on for about 12 hours as I had something else planned, and when I come back, 500k of transfer from upload and download is listed in my internet connection. I don't have any file sharing programs on, and after I came back, I find my internet connection a little unstable.

I have AVG up to date, doing checks every day, also have ad-aware running every two days or so, but since I have a host file ready, I don't need to run it as much, except to get rid of the ones that's not in my host file.

Any ideas?

Hey funky, sorry to hear you're leaving, but i gotta agree with the guyz, something else is hoggin up your bandwidth. You might have something else runnin in the background. Some sort of prog, or updating. It's gotta be something. It can't just be "nothing".Unless someone has tapped into your line and is stealing your bandwidth.
