'fraid I've been out of the loop for a while and wondering whether I should be moving over to folding3 or sticking with genoming

I tried out the latest folding3 console for a few units and it works fine (folding2 was an arse on my machine...)

What's the general consensus guys and gals?

I wouldn't call it quitting.

We had generally agreed that our goal would be to hit 500,000 WU's and we did. We are now moving to help out our F@H brothers.

One Site ONE TEAM!

I am not a native english speaker, but when you say that we reached our goal and now have moved to F@H, why wouldn't you call that quitting? :)

I believe it's not quitting, just moving over cuz Genome will always be needed. Just that the Genome team reached thier goal as per their agreement.

Us Folders have been fighting an uphill battle. So to quote Lukeman: "One site, One team"

Team Genome busted major Genome butt and since we need all the help we can get, they joined thier fighting forces with us.

Also the Genome project was intergrated with Folding.

So you see my young aprentice, it's not quitting, merely the joining of 2 great forces to do battle.

There is strength in numbers young grasshopper, you will learn this. :D

I think we don't call it quitting because of the negative connotations of that word. Although since we did stop gnoming and start folding the effect is the same no matter what word is used to describe the action.

Welcome Encnuk. I trust you are enjoying your SG experience.
Maybe we could see a new board appear if the Aussie membership gets bigger.;)

Well, the truth is that we are following Stanfords recommendations... ;)

It seems that many partake in the programs for the competition and points, however most of us are in it to help mankind...
We want to run the prog that will give the best data to the researchers and scientists...

The competition is great as it keeps it interesting and adds a flair to it. However that is not the main reason for doing it...

It may come to a point in time that they make a break through with the Genome client and ask everyone to run it again. And we would... ;)

Look at it from their perspective, it is tough to stay on top of all of this data and research. They are limited with the people and time that can be put into upgrading programs, so we really can't expect them to be able to rewrite both frequently... Programing is a full time job in itself.

They know what info will benefit them the most and that is what they recommend us to do, so we do it, faithfully... :)

If only some of the big companies like Microsoft would join in, the dreaded diseases would be conquered in no time! Until them, we will continue to help in the best way that we can...

We do have some Aussies running around here :) and we welcome then as part of our family! The internet is a great way for people from far off to be able to interact with each other...

Thanks for being a part of the family everyone! :)

I just hope that the number crunching we do does have some point to it, and not just exercises our ISP's and uses up bandwidth. The real pressure is on them to have written usefull programs that generate usefull data, as otherwise a million PC's running 24 hours per day will do little good, if the simulations are all inaccurate.

As I have neither seen their source code, nor would I be able to understand it, as I have no idea about the mathematics of folding, all I can offer are the spare CPU cycles of my machines.

If real results are achieved, I think every body that contributed will feel proud.
