Welcome to the FOLD.
If you run 2K or XP let us know and we can hook you up with ways to run folding as a service which is a much easier way to run it in my opinon.

I could use that info. Please let me know!
Personally, I use FireDaemon to set Folding up as a service.
Just goto www.firedaemon.com and download the BRC1 install. Once installed you can use the handy little interface to setup your folding client as a service. If you have trouble with the user interface let me know. It is 3:30 AM and my brain is not what it should be right now. :)
Once you have it done you will see F@H running on startup if you set the service properly and have it starting automatically. I choose to not allow my folding to interact with the desktop so it it totally invisible. It just runs with nothing showing.
Welcome DePlano! These guys will help you out! :)

I just downloaded it and joined the team last night.
I had an error message today, so I'm going to redownload and install right now.
Hopefully I can stay as a team member!

Yeah! It is nice to know my computer is doing something productive while it sits there.
Ok, so I have d/loaded the newest program and installed it. The registration was to Speedguide (15) and I am using "Croc" as the username.
My CPU usage is running at 100% all the time. (A little proggie called StatBar tells me this.)
The screensaver is set to a blank screen.
I am not connected to the internet all the time and am on dialup. With the system left on the folding will still occur but what about results?
Is there anything else I should do or is that all there is to it? What I have outlined is ALL I have done.
Croc.
Welcome to the Fold Croc ! :D
I think there something that redials it for you, i'm not sure how it works as i'm on a cable modem. I sure ken or poptom know more about the dial up thing than i do .
I don't want to have it redial in auto mode because we have only one phoneline into the house and my system is not the server here. My son's system has the connection via modem.
I am hoping it will work without connection and upload when I do connect. If that can't be done then I think it may be not something I can do.
Thanks for the welcome though. I hope it will work.
Croc.
Hey Croc, why don't you get a router or a hub and share your sons modem? I've got a 4 port hub and i have no problems sharing my cable modem with my other rigs.Even if i turn off a rig, the others are still on.
might be worth looking into.
Thanks LT.
That's what we are doing. There are 3 systems here.
Son's in his bedroom. (24y/o with "virtual female" privacy issues.LOL)
My wife's laptop and my system in the study.
All connected through MS ICS, and a hub. We were using WinRoute Pro when I had the server but the son was lazy and didn't install it on his.
As the Folding upload won't happen until the job is finished I don't think there will be any difficulties. Hope not.
Croc.
Sounds good ! If there's any problems don't hesitate to holla :D
Again, glad to have ya on the team ! :)

I just got this, and it said everything was successful. It but the folding cliet still is in my tray and the program exe is still in my startup folder. is that right?
Yup, unless you wanna move it from the start up folder to a folder of your choice ;)

If you used FireD then you shouldn't see F@H at all. Also, it should not be in your startup, that will just cause it to try and run 2 instances, each at 50%. Delete it from you start up, reboot and check your task manager. You should will see it running.
FireD starts F@H as a service, no "dos" box, no tray icon. You should have FireD set up to start auto, and no desktop interaction.
