Don't have any experience with phone networking. Since you can access the internet I'll assume it supports at least tcp if not netbeui.

Do you have a network protocol and 'file and print sharing' installed on the temp machine?
Have you shared a folder on the temp machine?
Is there a common user account on both machines?

What errors are you getting?

When I try to view the the secondary computer from the main computer on "View Workgroup computers" I get an error message that says that I don't have permission from the administrator to view the network that I setup. When I try to view it from my secondary computer all that shows up is the secondary computer. They both have WinXP on them now. Hope this clears some things up. THanks

The easy way would be take the hard drive out of the old computer and put it in the new one and set it up as a slave and just copy and paste all the file you want to keep . then put it back in the old computer and reformat it.

Make sure the same login is on both machines and that the workgroups are the same.
