Soz to ask this question again but I have followed a lot of advice given here to me and still cant get the temps down inside my case. Im using a Lian LI PC-60....... 2 front fans(sucking in) 1 rear fan (blowing out) and an 80mm blowhole on the top of the case. Im still getting CPU temps at around 55-60 and case temps of arond 35. What else can I do to bring my temps down?? I'm gonna change my fan and heatsink on my CPU, but surely they should not be so hot?? Anyone reccomend an excellent heatsink/fan combo?? Its an Atlon 1gig, not overclocked.
Cheers for any help!!!!!!!!!!!!

alpha 8045 with a mechatronics 80mm x 53 cfm fan, pulling air off of the cpu.that is what i am running and it seems to be good enough cooling and not too loud at all.

XP 1900 @ 1.67 full load room at 26.5, cpu at 43

i also replaced 3 of the 4 80mm x 27 cfm fans that came on my coolermaster 201 case with 92 x 63 cfm fans, i left the standard top blow hole as is. and added a 92mm x 63 cfm intake on the side over the pci slots.

i usually run them at about 7 volts when i sleep and it is fairly quiet.

So youre fan sucks air off the cpu?? mine is blowing onto the cpu......which way is best?? Saying that i dont think my fan will go the other way.......cant turn it round cos of the shape of it...it is made to sit on the heatsink that way......bugger it ill go buy a new one tomorrow!!!

most people that i have read when useing the alpha run it that way, the company even recomends it.

i have tried it both ways and pulling worked best for me.

on a stock fan i don't know if you can flip it because off the way the screw holes are, but you may want to try it to see.

most people will say artic silver 3.

if you don't have any of that then just make sure you use some sort of thermal compound.

there wasn't even a pad type thing on there

yer there is a little pad but its all kinda worn away!! been on there for ages!! So what do i do....whats the best way to remove it before applying new stuff?? And will it make much diference temp wise??
Cheers!!

not sure on the best way to remove it , i have never taken an old one off.

probably just take a flat knife and carefully scrap it away, try not to score the surface.

clean up any residue with some kind of solvent, i use brake cleaner, and let it dry well before reinstalling it.

you may want to lap it to make sure it perfectly flat.

take an old mirror and put some sand paper down on it , then add some water and start moving the heatsink around in a figure 8 pattern , every so often spin the heatsink in your hand so you are holding it on different sides.

i started out with 400 grit and finished up with 600 or 800 grit.

i also did my chipset heatsink and it brought down the temps a few degrees C.

Your ambient temp is fine, your cpu is the problem...
Take an old credit card and remove as much of the old residue as possible, then give it a cleaning with Isopropyl or normal rubbing alcohol.
AMD says to use the packets, due to thermal greese drying out, however most around here use Artic Silver... Yes, most people have their fans pulling air away from the heat sink.

Ok so Ive put a new fan and heatsink on now today. Another coolermaster one but a lot bigger and better than the old one. Had to buy another coolermaset cos its the best one i could find around this areas. All the rest were like £6 cheap ass efforts. I used Antec silver before fitting it. My CPU temps have dropped from 55-60 to between 48-52. So its a little better but still nothing major. Looks like this is the coolest im gonna get it cos there aint a lot else i can do really. Cheers for the help guys.
