Usually i'm sinned by dial-up at my home, but I'm staying a dorm on a college campus. When I try to hook up to the school's T3 or whatever, i can't surf the web. I tried repairing the connection (via Network Properties on XP) but it gives me this error:
Purging the DNS Resolver cache.
Refreshing the DHCP leases and re-registering DNS names.
Please contact your network administrator or ISP.
Can someone help me?????
I'm using a 3Com network card on XP pro with antivirus software and such...

I'm assuming you've established a new lan connection, and set internet options/connections to dial only when network connection not present.

First, if you go to the school I'm sure they have a tech support desk. They can walk you through this. (Trust me, we have heard it all)
Second, if you're just staying there for a day or two (orientation/whatever) its most likely that you cant connect to their network unless your MAC has been registered for their network with their DHCP server. (hence the error message you are receiving)
My school does this in order to prevent people who dont attend the school from connecting. (although if you're creative there are ways around it of course, but hey, looks like it stumped you:)
