It has a inner line so short circuit will not be a problem even if (which I will try to avoind ) it touch the surface of the case

yes, a harddisk will operate in any position.

I believe heat is the main problem here.

Well the rig that will go in there will be the rig in my sig .

Gonna install quite a few fans so I guess it will help with the heat
