stupid question

i know there is is a simple solution to this - i'm just overlooking it.
everytime i restart my puter - IE automatically opens my homepage on start-up. how do i stop it ? ? ? ? ?

Look in your startup file in

Start/Run/MSCONFIG

Or if your using an OS other than Win98/98/ME then go to your Start Menu, Programs, Startup... you might see the launcher to the app there.

Is this because the cable modem company decided that it was in your best intrest to install the cable modem software?

If so, I hate when they try to take over 'your' computer and tell you that it's mandatory to have the software installed. Thus, giving you that annoying startup homepage.

Either way, try that..
