Ok here's my problem. I have 2 WIN2K Machines with nic cards in them hooked up to a Seimans Hub which is hooked into my Alcatel Home Source DSL Modem.
My problem is if I go into Yahoo Games, or prolly any other game site online, and play a game on one machine, I have a great deal of lag, sometimes as much as 30 sec's or more. However if both machines are in the same game room then I have no lag at all.

I don't think that there is a physical problem with the LAN because I have allready changed cables and cards and none of that helps.

Besides this one problem everything else works fine, however its kinda pointless to have this LAN if I cant play a game on machine without the other machine being involved.

Thanks For you help

Provided one of the pc's isn't running ICS, then-
because gaming involves huge and rapid data traffic, it is probably the hub (packet bombardment and collision).
A hub transmits data to ALL connected computers. A Router sends packets directly to the destination computer only.

Most people will tell you that a hub can keep up with just two computers on a network. The trouble comes because the way a hub works with a modem to the Internet. There is a bottleneck at the modem. The hub does not have any ram on the ports so it can't hold the packet until the line is clear. So what you get is packet collision. Ethernet uses a process called Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Detection (CSMA/CD) to communicate across the network. Under CSMA/CD, a node will not send out a packet unless the network is clear of traffic. If two nodes send out packets at the same time, a collision occurs and the packets are lost. Then both nodes wait a random amount of time and retransmit the packets. Any part of the network where there is a possibility that packets from two or more nodes will interfere with each other is considered to be part of the same collision domain. A network with a large number of nodes on the same segment will often have a lot of collisions and therefore a large collision domain.
This is why your better off with a switch or a router
In your case with a hub, You Have two IP's but one modem and the hub will send out packet to the other node (computer)that not in the game
