To me, I'd look in other areas such as TCP settings, DNS, etc. I wouldn't think it's the browsers fault that it can't find sites.

Also, run ad-aware, and clean. Empty cookies and temporary internet files, and your temp directory.

YOSC, i do that on a daily basis. Sometimes it finds the sites, most of the time i get the "404" error

You could always check out Mozilla (www.mozilla.org).

I use Galeon (http://galeon.sourceforge.net/), it's themable and faster then Mozilla, but only for Linux.

Beonex (http://www.beonex.com/) works on Windows too. K-meleon (http://www.kmeleon.org/) is supposed to be the unbloated version of Mozilla for Windows, kinda like Galeon but without gnome.

I had IE 5.01 then i upgraded to 5.5 sp2. sometimes it just lagged or i'll get that dang 404 error. Mozilla's pretty good. i like it so far but i'll admit, if IE was'nt lagging so much, i would stick with it. but i do know whatcha mean :)

Ok guyz here's da scoop:

After running mozilla for a bit, i then shut off my pc, ate dinner, then took a nap. I awoke, grabbed a cup of coffee, turn on the pc, when i clicked on mozilla, the page took forever to load up. When i clicked on my fav. links, an error message came up saying: cannot find link : www. blah blah blah. I tried with IE and same thing. I had to uninstall mozilla and re-install IE atop itself to see if it'll fix the settings.

So now i'm back to IE. This really sux. What the heck is happening? On my slower machine IE workis perfect ! On this one, which is my main, it's giving me problems. I don't get it?

You probly never got an IP address, rebooted then got an IP address, and then everything worked fine.

Did you even try to use ping from DOS before uninstalling?

Give K-Meleon a try, it uses the Gecko engine (same HTML engine as Mozilla) and a different UI.

I've tried 3 different browsers. None of them seem to work. :(

Am i cracking up here?? Why is this ***** happening??

Some pages won't load or i get either that dam 404 error or cannot find server. WTF ?

Most pages only load up half way with errors and if there's a pic, it won't download it.

Even Speedguide's page has errors. I'm freakin out here, this is bad .

**** ok i refreshed my nic card drivers, that seemed to fix it :D ***

I'd say your having problems with your TCP IP stack. Or maybe your nic card or your modem. Do a trace and see if your dropping packets.

Sounds like you've got a problem with Microsoft altogether. Have you tried formating your hardrive and starting all over. That's how you guys fix 99% of all your errors, right?

Or maybe keep rebooting untill the problem fixes itself :D

I've been using Mozilla, Galeon, and Dillo as my web browsers and had never had any problems loading web sites. You probly need to edit your preferences.

Somethin's up with your system, wsock or something. I've gone through Opera, Mozilla, NutScrape, for the past couple of years, since IE 5.01 came out, been all IE. Never had any problems. If another browser does the same thing, then it's something in your TCP stack.
