would like to ask a question. Why is it that I cannot use F8 anymore whenever I use ping command I always have to type it again. F8's uses is that it will just repeat the last command enter right? Why is it that I can't use the debug command? Everytime I use it inside the windows environment it just says bad command or file name? What are the top ten DOS command that you frequently use inside the windows environment? Pls. enumerate some. What program are there that will be able to back up an entire drive and also restore it after you reformat that drive? Thanks for the time reading my mail.

What version of Windows are you using?

There is a number of backup software on the market but I prefer Norton Ghost. Easy to use and can backup to almost any media including CD.

yep f3 works! but really f8 works also especially if i use ping. THANKS A lot! now the problem with debug. Well, it just won't work. CAn Norton Ghost save it in another partition of the same hard drive and restore the same contents to the formatted drive? Is norton ghost free? What about the top ten dos commands any comment??

Yes, Norton can. Norton is used from floppy boot disk so once the partition is formated you would be able to ghost it back. Noton Ghost is not free but I beleive they do have a 30 day trial version that is fully functional.

I myself have a spare 7 gig HD I use for my backups. I installed a fresh copy of my OS and programs along with all my tweaks then ghost it to spare drive. If I ever have a problem I just format my main drive then ghost the image to it or just boot to the spare. Either way, I can have my system up and running in a matter of minutes.

Same here, F3's all I ever used...in Win9X.
