Use a boot disk and boot with that. Don't remember how to make 1 anymore sry, I have XP Pro. Try bootdisk.com .

Boot to command prompt (A:\>), or as the 98SE boot disk does it its to (C:\>). Type format c: and if you have other drives format them with appropriate drive letter.

Remove boot disk and bootup with 98 CD and install.

Prob too late for this post, but you can create a Winders boot disk in Add/ Remove Programs (Create Startup Disk tab I think). Boot from a:, select "w/out cdrom support"; from a: type "fdisk", create your partition(s), then exit fdisk, reboot, from a: type "format c:/s", wait forever, reboot when done, boot from a: again and choose startup "with cdrom support".

THEN switch to your c: drive (type c:), make a directory to put your .cab files in (md win98), type in "copy x:\win98\*.* c:\win98" where x is cdrom drive letter. This will copy your .cabs to your hard drive.

THEN, type "c:" and "cd win98" and finally "setup". Why go to all this trouble? Running setup this way, if your add things to the computer later on (hardware), Windows will look to the folder it was installed from by default (c:\win98), which means you wont have to hunt for the CD....muy bueno, no?

If you've already "done the deed" drag and drop the win98 folder into the root of c: and you can still point windows there with "specify a location" (still beats looking for the CD...)
