I just recently upgraded my computer from a Celeron 300A to an Athlon XP 1900+.
I only upgraded the: Motherboard, RAM, Processor, and hard drive.
I was using Windows XP but when I tried to boot it after upgrading it didn't like the fact that I had installed a new hard drive controller.
So after I did a clean install of XP, I started to use the net. ALL my downloads were really slow! I was consistently getting 100+kB/s d/l's from sites, but now they were less than 10kB/s.
I've applied the standard tweaks to no avail. Please help!
Note: I was, and still am, using the same networking hardware, a Macronix 10/100 NIC connected to my modem, a Netgear Phoneline adapter, and a Dlink 528 10base-T NIC. Basically my computer acts as the internet router for my house.
