My northbridge temps have always jumped around a lot,
And it’s temps have run too hot, like up into the 50’s.

so I took off the soyo fan and what I have read is true, there is no thermal tape or paste,AT ALL on the via chip.I could only fit one mounting pin on the Orb and I used thermal adhesive tape.It seems to hold just fine.

so with the blue orb in place

and I think it also looks pretty cool too! J

now my temps at idle are much more stable and lower on the northbridge.

ya most manufactures dont put hardly any thermal paste, ba$tards

FYI- the crystal orb has a lower thermal resistance than the blue orb but it looks like its doing a good job.

should help with the OC if u do OC.

what speed is that XMS

I mess with OC'ing a little,my FSB is at 145,and the corsair is pc2700(333). :)
and I looked at the crystal orb,it was only a couple bucks more, what is different on the crystal orb?I did'nt know.

thanks,,,,

the only difference with the crystal orb is the thermal resistance is lower meaning it will transfer heat better. u might see a little more improvement with the crystal orb but what u got now looks to be good

it will be cooler, u go from passive cooling to active cooling and the heatsink that was on it sucked anyways;)
