Possible virus

Hey guys, I'm kinda new to this but everytime I'm on my comp. it reboots itself and gives me an error message. I ran a scan and it says 0 viruses found. I did a defrag, and scan disk. and still freezes up on me. Any help will be appreciated.

What does the error message say? This could be many things, bad RAM, corrupt driver, Irq conflict etc.:)

most current viruses disable any antivirus software on your machine. Try here Housecall (http://housecall.antivirus.com) for a scan thats not dependent upon your AV files which may be corrupted.

You don't even have to register, if you click on the link that says scan without registering.

What is your OS? When did this start happening? Did you add any hardware or software since it last ran well? Do you have a boot disk? Can you boot into safe mode?

Could be that your MBR has changed and your AV (or even your bios if it has the capability) have determined you have a virus.

Could also be a problem with your chipset drivers. A buddy of mine's machine wouldn't boot fully - it would spit an error and reboot itself. Found out that his AGP card drivers were causing a problem because the mobo drivers weren't installed.

It looks like Windows might be missing an essential booting file. Best thing to do after the scan, if not fixed, is to clean install windows again.

I ran the Housecall and it said it was unable to download due to traffic. But I did glimpse that it said I had a trojan virus, i didn't see the name though.

The trojan you have must be uploading like crazy to affect it being able to talk to Trend Micro. I have run this on in-production web and mail servers running constant 1Mb traffic with no problems. Good luck, bubba.

The reason it reboot it self is because you have the box check in the system startup and recovery under system properties. specifies whether windows will automatically reboot whenever the system stop unexpectedly. you need to uncheck this box. Then find what the error is ,and fix it. I would say the error is in your network setting. try disable the built in firewall. If you need help just post again and I well tell you how to do it

Do you have a compaq? If you do throw the thing in the garbage and go get yourself a custom computer. The only commercial computer I would reccommend would be alienware. Anything else is sh it just go build your own custom. If you don't owna compaq good luck.

It sounds to me that your power supply or ups is the problem.....?? how may devices do have in your computer and how many fans?
what is the power supplies watts?
has this just started or have you put something else in or hooked up to the computer.
Also look in the bios and see what the tempature is that your cpu is running at. Note each CPU runs at a different temp. So look up the optimal temp for your cpu.
This is a good place to start if you have no virus problems.

While trolling the M$ website, it seemed that most of the posts relating to ole32.dll errors had to do with their Office suite.....perhaps some unruly app. is acting up (other than the aforementioned trojan) :p

While JS.Noclose may be annoying, it is not malicious. It is code that is used by a Web site to create hidden windows for the purpose of displaying advertisements and banner ads. Closing these windows can be difficult, because when you close one, the window that is "hidden" behind it is displayed.

There is no malicious payload involved in this type of code and as such, your system is not endangered. For this reason Symantec does not detect such scripts as viral.


ran the house call thing found three no close trojans...ran nortons it didnt find it.. so i deleted from house call..and went to nortons site..and searched for this virus..and well it said the above..
