I have a home networking phone line card installed on computer A it shares files with other computers on my home network. Computer A also has a direct connection to a Cable modem which I do not want to share because the home phoneline network already has a router that serves the internet to all other computers in my home.

So how do I tell my computer to use the RJ-11 card instead of the PNA card for the internet connection?

Thanks!

What's your OS? I have never worked with a phone-line network - does it use tcp/ip for internet as well as file and print sharing?

You want to set your default gateway as the ip address of the router you want to use. You may have to set things manually vs. DHCP.

OS is win 98se

I actually want to use the direct connection that Computer A has to the Cable modem not the phoneline connection to the router

RJ11 is a phoneline jack. RJ45 is ethernet.

You would in effect be using 2 network interfaces. I have been told that 98 doesn't handle being part of multiple networks so well.

Where is YOSC when you need him?

If you could use TCP/IP only for the NIC that goes to the cable modem, and Netbeui (only) bound to file and print sharing for the phone line network it may work. On the other PC's use Netbeui for file and print sharing. PC A has to use TCP/IP to get to Internet so it will use the cable modem.
