Hi all,

I have 2 PC's running Win2k linked by a crossover cable. The ADSL modem is connected to 1 PC by USB and then this is shared by NAT software to enable internet sharing. I want to be able to split the bandwidth between the 2 PC's so each PC will only go to a maximum amount of bandwidth.

Is there a hardware router that can allocate bandwidth to resolve my issue?

Many thanks

There are routers that can do this. Look for one that supports QoS. They are very expensive. I am not sure that would work with USB either.

The Linksys 8 port Etherfast router supports QoS...but you mention USB modem...so outta luck. I know of only 1x router so far that supports USB modems, and it's sold mostly in the UK with support for only several common modems over there, mostly cable I believe.

Couldnt you then plug both computers into the router.

Yeah, but you have to plug the DSL modem into the WAN port of the router too to share the connection.
