yes.. saitek is a fairly good company at joysticks too..
but if it's yer first.. I'd prolly go with microsoft... they're joysticks are easiest..
yea budies got one of them two deal joy sticks dont think its Saitek tho
but i didnt like it mainly cuz you need 3 hands and his joy stick wasnt that smoth in movment
what ever one you pick make sure it has good smoth triming cuz realy thats all that matters dunno bout them 2 joys sticks tho mabye if it had 20 more buttons cuz on most flight sims you end up useing the key board for flap gear ect
now my sidewinder:D all broke in is the smothes stick iv yet to use
see ya in the skys :)

the microsoft steering wheel with force feedback is AWESOME in flight sim 2002. just make sure you get the newest revision of it... the USB one. and make sure its compatable with your OS
As far as I'm concerned, the Saitek sticks are absolutely garbage. Alotta ppl use the Microsoft sticks, so there must b somethin 2 em, but they seem a lil fragile to me (and they have a twist rudder.).
I use and recommend CH sticks. The Flightstick Pro USB is a great basic stick. The Fighterstick USB the way to go tho. The Pro peds r great too.. 8^) Don't let the price shown scare ya either. Ya can find alot better prices on the net...

Make sure, whatever stick ya get, that it's USB.. 8^)

MS Sidewinder series. Although it's Microsoft and I hate to keep making Bill Gates the richest guy in the world....what it boils down to is compatibility/support/usefullness in the games that you play, and like it or not, the MS Sidewinder series takes the prize there.
To get the most out of your game, look for the controls that your game is optimized for. I love MS Combat Flight Sim 2...and my old Sidewinder 3D Pro is great for it.

I have the Logitec Digital extreme 3d. Works good but, over a years worth of use the Rudder twist is a little of center. I have also tried the Sidewinder 2 Force Feedback stick. The force feedback is good. But to me the buttons are not laid out as good as Logitec.
If you want the best. Go with a Thrustmaster Cougar, Its very expensive, but it will last a long time. I believe has a flashable BIOS so it will be compatible with future system's.
I would like to repeat settrippen recommendation also. IL-2 by-far the best WW2 flight sim on the market. Becarefull though this game will spoil you. I can't play my old ones now. They just don't seem as good, as they used to be. Such as EAW, and Janes WW2. CFS2 bought it and returned it the sameday(yuck).
Try the demo out and see for yourself. Online is just a blast. They even have a Air Racing server running on friday nights, if thats your cup of tea.

Thanks for the info. I'm looking into the IL2 game now.
As for as the Saitek controller goes, I went to compusa and "felt it up", :D The buttons didn't feel too firm and felt like they were about to fall off the demo model. I'm trying to find some games that are a little more then "point and shoot". Airplanes are cool but I'm having a hard time flying the damn things with the keyboard. I just don't want to go through ten controllers before I find the right one, but that'll probably happen anyway.
nah just pick wisly id go MS sidewinder or some thin trustmaster and you will be happy or even logic i have ther wingman game contorler very nice but never messed with ther joy sticks

Might mention that if you look hard you can find some good deals on MS Joysticks at wal-mart. I've seen a few out of the box as is for about half the price in their discount section. Just a matter of going to www.microsoft.com and downloading the newest drivers.
