I found today this at www.warp2search.com:

There is a new version of RASPPPOE:

http://user.cs.tu-berlin.de/~normanb/

I have not ADSL, I am in cable, but today have been installing an ADSL connection to a friend. It was my first ADSL installation, and after thinking half hour how the %¤$@ I was gonna install this connection MANUALLY on Windows ME I gave up and fired up the ISP installation cd. I think the software that installed isn crap, heavy screens that have to charge for login in the service and they have change the home page and now its immposible to access the home page without first "waiting for visiting" they webpage!
I saw for first time a PPPoE connection. Things that sortpised me were that when running the TCP/IP optimizer of speedguide I found that they have defeault the Max MTU to 1488 instead of 1492. I have just check DSL PPPoE and the optimized tab and restarted (after making a backup). The connection was behaving better, but he says that it has started to get disconnected from the service! I do had noticed some interruptions on the service (like dead periods) but after some seconds I could surf again.
I could not use "connect on demmand" when using IE and things like that.

One thing very special is that I noticed that webpages react faster in this ADSL connection (no delay between pressing enter and getting the page on the browser, and this computer with ADSL is a MUCH slower machine than mine!) than in my cable connection. We use the same ISP, just are in different areas of the city. I could see that he gets asignated different DNSs, I will try that ones, maybe that is why. Or what else can this be?

Maybe this RASPPPOE can help him?

What do you think?
