I you can find a server closeby with a low ping for ya, although it may be hard. I used to game on a 33.6 modem with Q2, Q3, and UT.

You'd think it was impossible, but my ISP has quite a few gaming servers in their data center, including mine. So although I was connecting with dial up, I only had 1x hop...and my pings were in the low 100's, usually 120 or so, sometimes even in the high 90's. Also my ISP was quite fast, so even connecting to some outside servers wasn't bad, in the high 100's- low 200's.

It's not all about the speed of the modem, you have a USR external modem, so it's better than most modems, especially those 56k Winmodems.

It may be hard to find a server you ping well to, as that depends on where you are, and your ISP...but it's not impossible.

BiznessOnline/Cyberzone

Used to be just Cyberzone, but BiznessOnline, out of New Jersey, went on a buying spree, picking up about 20 smaller ISP's around the New England area. I currently have DSL through them, so the best thing is, my game server, co-located in their data center, is literally 1x hop from my house...my pings, even though I'm across the state, are usually in the low 20's...I've pinged as low as 17 to my server, and at highest, in the 40's. I've been to LAN parties with more lag than that! LOL.

in CS, just put ur rate down, and make sure that u dont download all the Sprays in game
