Occasionally I setup 3/4 pcs and play TO through my cable modem and router. This used to work fine with Tactical Ops(game config of 56k), then the new release of TO came out.......
I could now barely run 3 pcs through the cablemodem - TO game config of 56k. Therefore I could not wait for 1mb and more importantly 256 up.
Unfortuneatly there is no difference! I can still barely run 3 pcs with a game config of 56k.
Any ideas?
I know that this is NOT supported by my provider. But surely it is the bandwidth that is the determining factor here and I have doubled it by upgrading! V.disapointed.:(
we gonna need some specs:)

I am starting to think that it may be something to do with my provider as I tried Unreal Tourney but had the same results.
Its weird using UT i am able to get working 2 pcs with netspeed of 7000 bytes persec each (UT uses this for limiting up and down) but when i connect a 3rd with all pcs using 3500 it straight away causes dramatic ping increase 80 - 3000 and packet loss on all pcs.
All pcs are over 1ghz with Geforce2MX or above, 256MB or above RAM,100mps Switched 8P HUB - all pcs running at 100duplex -
Uplink to Belkin Router, NAT on,firewall on.
The belkin router has three LAN ports and 1 WAN port - cable modem. I have tried all pcs in diff ports - all into router/all into hub etc.
I configured a test pc with winproxy (to replace the router ), as this was what I used to use and the same results occured.
Is it possile that my ISP has somehow limited the number of connections coming from one ip (my router address) and going through specific game ports at the gameserver ip?

I am having the same exact problem, but mine never used to do this, i used to be able to have 3 people no problem...I'll have 2 comp's playing in Q3 fine, pinging both at about 40..then the third connects, and its basically done, everyone skyrockets to 999....its really pissing me off...I have Bellsouth fastaccess... 1.5/256 ...really frustrating...
yes some isp do limit how many pc are on at 1 time
but it could be many other things router crapen out on ya your isp node crapen out on ya a bandwith proplom your cable line
only thing i can think of is to get a sec ip and run your 3rd pc off that

It has started working! Just last night. 3pcs working with a netspeed of 6000. I did not do anything. Must be something at ISP end.:D :2cool:
I just hope it holds out.
