From what I last heard, it has a more of a role-playing slant to it as well. Like it's not as much based on building up a sole base, but you have Hero's in the game and there are neutral towns/characters and such.

unless they changed the game drastically from 2001 E3 it's RTS

Turn-based games are like the Civilization Series and Alpha Centauri.

War3 will still be RTS but have more of a focus on "Hero units" where your hero can level up and gain new skills and such, while also having a bit of an army.

War3 is a Realtime Strategy:D

Like jug said it includes hero's and they are trying to put all the attention on battles which makes the game even more fun then having to go through and build tons of buildings.

WAR3 is RTS, Hero units in the game is most important, as sure as I can say that an upgraded hero can take out an entire base all by itself. You can not play the game without a hero, that's like trying to kick ass with no legs :) Hero's max out at LV 10 with 4 spells (3 Spells + 1 Superspell) and these spells have each 3 level upgrades besides the final superspell which means this:

Spell 1 (lv 1,2,3)
Spell 2 (lv 1.2.3)
Spell 3 (lv 1,2,3)
Superspell

3+3+3+1 = 10 Levels :)

Heros can aquire items that can be won by fighting enemies, and only hero's can carry items. WarCraft 3 is like a Diablo and Warcraft hybrid. You get the same deal with RTS and building stuff while on the other hand u can also level your hero and fight like Diablo. All and all fun ... but the main thing about it is still how well you can control your units and multi tasking. GG.

im not to into RTS games, other then RA2 lol, but it is very starcraft like, in that the structures and gameplay are very similar, (thats obvious) graphics are impressive and enhance the game, but i dont think i'll be obsessed over this game like others...

My opinion is from someone who doesn't like RTS much newayz...
