View Full Version : The big achievers, JugHead, LukeMan, ... Do they use 1 really fast computer or many?
Was just interested to know if these guys have a really quick box to get the results or if they use a server farm all logged in as the same user to get such impressive achievements. :)
Nahhhhhhhh , they've got several rigs runnin :D

Most of us do run multi systems. I actually have 4 boxes running here at home plus a couple of thers. Also the faster the chip the quicker the turn around time, with AMD's being a little faster than Intel's.
However, one thing to consider is that some of us have also been at it for a long time. I myself have been running G@H since March of last year and Jughead started just before that.

Thanks for the info. I will just keep working at it with my 1 box. I realized that people have started a long time ago, but I also noticed that the number of the work units they produce each day/week seems enormous, that's why I asked the question.
I just upgraded my P3 667 to a P4 2Ghz with RDRAM and the gnomies are moving along a fair bit quicker than before.
I guess every little bit helps :-)

Every little bit does help, and you are putting out good numbers right now 400+ gnomies a week is great for one 'puter. If you still have that P3 lying around why not put it back to work gnoming. That is if you have the extra parts and don't mind the extra electricity. Not too long ago I was running a Pentium 120 and a few other small machines. They weren't real fast, but they all add up. Just a thought. Thanks for joining up, and welcome to the team.:D

Hey LukeMan I haven't gotten anything from Fry's in about 3 weeks, or maybe even a whole month, can't afford to now as I just got my electric bill, hehe
edit: Just checked the new Fry's ad and they have an 1800+ with ECS K7S5A mb for $129. Help, somebody stop me before I do it again.;)
