View Full Version : MaxBlast
I'm about to start up a fresh computer with a new pair of Maxtors. Should I use MaxBlast Plus II or DOS/Windows (98se) to format and partition?

Just insert your 98 disk and boot from cdrom first you can do it all from the disk.:)
i hate the new maxblast, the older 1.27s was GREAT. worked on all hdds too
OK. I just wondered if there might be some advantage in using it.
MaxiBlast Plus II is allot faster than fdisk
And you are forced to use it if your drive is 80G or larger
I had no problem using it :D

this is only if you have an older ide controller on ur mobo, most newer ones can see drives up to 128GB (it's a bios limitation), from there you have to use something called EZBios which tricks ur bios, using cylinder limitation mode on the drive, into seeing the entire size.
Amro
fdisk has a problem dealing with drives larger than 64G

there is a supposed fix for the limitation at the above link, but I had no
luck with it, and I used the MaxiBlast instead, which worked fine.
