Something's screwed up! My Photoshop 7 when I load it it says abnormal termination or something, and running WinMe. Someone please help me solve this problem.
Thanks
What's the resource count there on that computer? I don't recall anyone here in the recent past having as many problems as you are having. How much memory do you have installed?
If it ain't that, then reinstall PS7. Has it ever booted up properly? Is it a legal version or something snapped up from P2P?
Obvious suggestion is to dump ME and go to 2K or XP, or even back to 98. 98SE preferrably if you have go go back.
Along with the suggestions Dakota gave, could you try to be more specific. There are solutions to problems, but merely saying
My Photoshop 7 when I load it it says abnormal termination or something, and running WinMe. Someone please help me solve this problem. doesn't give much to go on.
Next post.... computer details.

I had this problem with photoshop 6. The Adobe Gamma, which loads during start up of photoshop, did not like my monitor for some reason. I set it to default/plug and play monitor and it worked fine. You might want to give that a try.

I have 128 MB of RAM installed so that shouldn't be THAT much of a problem. The Photoshop version is a legal version. How do you set it to default plug/play?
Either way, I HATE DELL!!!!!!! :(
Thanks for trying to help.

I've never used ME so there might be slight variations but this is the basic idea to change your monitor type. Right click on your desktop and select properties. Select the settings tab then hit the advanced button. Select the monitor tab and then the change button. Display list of hardware and the select all hardware. Scroll to Standard Monitor types(usually at top) and select either plug and play or default monitor. Hopefully that will do it for you.

How will I preserve my files?!?!
??? You have never backed up your files before? Back up your important stuff and do a clean install of 2K or XP.

I agree it's probably ME related but only 128MB of RAM isn't helping either. What is your virtual memory set to? What percentage of system resources to you have free on a fresh boot? Also I would HIGHLY suggest upgrading to 2K or XP you will be amazed at how much better they are, just up your RAM to atleast 384-512MB if you do.:)

I bought a comcrap a while back that had ME on it. Its the trashiest windows O/S yet. I dumped it for xp as soon as xp came out. Did you know that at one point microsoft almost abandoned win ME all together? There's gotta be something wrong with it if MS won't even accept it! Whatever you decide, don't fall for upgrading if you are going to xp. That gives you a ton of headaches down along the line.

Sheesh. Well then, since you know so much more than we do, good luck fixing your problem. And any others you may come across for that matter. I, and many others here, have tried more than once to offer advice and you're just plain rude about it, so you're off the list there dude.

That's great but do you care to share with the rest of us what fixed it, it's nice to know incase someone runs into the same problem down the road.:)
Glad things got fixed...but really...get more RAM as soon as you can. Photoshop is a glutton.

Nothing wrong with Dell. Stop trying to blame the problems on Dell
The problems is not enough ram, and Winme.
Yeah winme might work on your friend computer, but that might be one machine in a million that works. OK I am exaggerating.
Seirously if you are doing heavy photoshop you should get at least 512 Ram, even more depnding upon what you are doing.

OEM computer brands, especially compaq, sometimes won't accept a component unless it comes from compaq or dell or whoever. Compaq is bad about that with memory and sometimes videocards. Btw, if you tried to upgrade to a gf4 mx, they are a pain somtimes. Also, see the card you want is compatible in the area of bus speeds. Does your motherboard support 2x and/or 4x cards? What was the speed of the card you tried? Hopes this helps!

My video card is integrated with my mother board so I don't think I can upgrade it because there's no slot for the NEW video card! I have Dell, remember?? My video card is only 11 MB of RAM for goodness sake!!!!
