The tech who installed my Cable told me to come to speedguide and dl something that would trick the central servers into thinking I was getting a low bandwidth. He said that If I did this the central server would bump my cap up essentially giving me double the bandwidth.
My question is where is the install file, or was he talking out his A$$?
Thanks in advance.

Welcome to SG, but ummmm........ I think the tech is pulling your leg. You can tweak your settings to improve your speed but I don't think ANY ISP is gonna up your caps for free and most cable ISPs have set caps they do not increase for anyone but business accounts that pay more and require more bandwidth for their networks.:)

Hmm....cause he pretty much said I could double what I am getting now by getting somthing from you guys.
How do I check my settings so you can help me get the most from my cable? I saw in other threads people posting some specs?
:p
This is what I got so far:
Your raw speed was 2674668.11 bits per second
from bandwidthplace.com
If your not already tweaked, go to the tweak forum and the people will get you fixed up. The Cable Tech is telling you a line of garbage. The only way your going to get more bandwidth is by paying for it in the form of business class packages etc.

I would like to add that many of the posters here at SG actually work for providers of Cable and DSL services so you’re getting the correct information from the Speed Guide group... not from the tech who installed you Cable.

The cable tech was pulling your leg, talking out of his @$$. The only way to get an faster speed package is to buy an business package, which does cost more money per month. But you can tweak your connection by downloading our Optimizer (http://www.speedguide.net/files/TCPOptimizer.exe) program to your desktop and selecting cable modem or extreme, if 256960 or 513920 doesn't work out for you, visit the tweaking forum and have Lobo and the others help you out.

Oh you can get a faster connection very easily, but legal? No. Will you get caught? Yep.
