Okay, I am a Bell Sympatico HSE user. I'm a little bit confused as to how to interpret what exactly they mean by 960kbs as their max download speed. I just did a speed test at www.dslreports.com and my results came back as 269Kbps download and 102kbps upload.

Now, am i missing something here? Is it just me or am I not downloading at the rate Bell advertises and at the rate of all the other customers who went ahead and took the same test. ?

Or am I just interpreting the results wrong?

Do I need to multiply that number by a value to get the real speed at which I'm dowloading at??

If someone could help me with a response back ASAP it would very much be appreciated.

Thanx.

Oh, and btw, I've done all the tweaks listed here at this site, and I download at a steady 35-37k/s in explorer.

kbps = kilobits/sec
IE shows you Kilobytes/sec

Divide the 960 kbps by 8 to get 120 Kilobytes/sec as what IE would show you.

You won't really reach that, but you should be closer than 35 Kilobytes/sec. You are nowhere near what you should get. It is advertized as "max" though, not a gaurantee.

All kinds of factors come into play. Time of day, net congestion, distance from CO, etc, etc.

Try posting in the tweaking forum with what the SG TCP analizer shows you. They'll assist you in getting what you pay for.
You can find the link to the SG TCP analizer in the top section of the tweaking forum.
