THe title says it all. Just to let u know, my ISP is Bell Symatico HSE, just in case if the ISP makes a difference :)

TCP options string = 020405a00103030301010402

MTU = 1480
MTU is optimized for Windows XP PPoE DSL broadband. If not, consider raising MTU to 1500 for optimal throughput.

MSS = 1440
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1440, which equals MSS.
MSS is optimized for Windows XP PPPoE DSL broadband. If not, consider raising MTU to 1500 for maximum throughput.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 506880
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 3 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 63360
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
253440 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
126720 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
63360 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 20275.2 kbps (2534.4 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 8110.08 kbps (1013.76 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 51 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

Things look pretty good. I also have DSL and your numbers look pretty similar. Any tweaking won't really impact your speeds. If you are running well then things are fine. http://www.dssgroundzero.com/forums/images/smilies/multi.gif

Your settings look fine, but how are your speeds? Check out the New to tweakin link in my signature, it has a link to a Speedtest site.

2002-05-29 20:42:11 EST: 840 / 110
Your download speed : 840928 bps, or 840 kbps.
A 102.6 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 110344 bps, or 110 kbps

Your RWIN value is waaay too high for your connection. Try 43200 w/ Tcp1323Opts set to 0. Take another speed test after that as well.

Have you tried the following?

Open up IE, click Tools>Internet Options>Connections>LAN Settings>Make sure everything is disable and unchecked

1) Go to "Start" -> "Control Panel"
2) Click on "Network & Internet Connections"
3) Click on "Network Connections"
4) Right click on the icon for your Ethernet card connected to your DSL modem _> Choose "Properties"
5) Click on "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) -> Click "Properties"
6) In the "General" tab check off "Use the following IP address"
7) Enter an internal IP address 192.168.xxx.xxx (replace the x's with a number of your choice)
8) Enter a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0
9) Click "OK"
10) Click "OK"

Should I choose the RWIN with the value of around 60000? (The last multiple of RWIN). ANd one more question, which RWIN values are better for my DSL SYmpatico Broadband? The SMallest or the largest?

Personally I think that RWIN is way too high for any DSL line, what are your caps? Without knowing what they are I would try RWINs of 31680, 50400, 63360, 95040, 126720, 207360 or 253440. I would lean towards 126720 or lower and see how they work.:)

I think there will be a 1GB cap in June

Have you tried all the suggested RWIN values above? If not.. what are you waiting for?

Besides, you haven't told us your advertised speeds...

My advertised speed is suppose to be 960down/120up

Will 253440 RWIN Do?
