Hi,
Within the past week or so I haven't been able to get downloads faster than 20kB/s. When I was first hooked up I was getting 150-200, sometimes higher.
I called my ISP and they got me to search for some of the tcp/ip registry tweaks. I haven't done anything like that, so as expected nothing was found. He then walked me thru a few other things. Nothing worked. So he sent a line tech out. The guy did signal tests, played around with the cabling, and whatever else he did. After that was all said and done there was little to no improvement. He then said it's probably just peak hours and such and to try in the morning. And I said, "what about if I work during the day and only get time in the evening?". He went on and on about signal level good, I'm not a pc tech, yadda yadda, then left.
Yesterday (the day after the line tech came) everything was good! It was back to the way it was when I first hooked up.
Today, when I started to download a few things and it went from 150k slowly down to a stable 15-20kB.
I phoned tech support again, this time inquiring about caps, thinking I might have accidently given a lower cap. They insisted I'm given the same amount of bandwidth as everyone else. he said since my signal level or something is good the problem must be my computer. He walked me thru pretty much the same stuff as I did a few days earlier. That didn't fix it. Then he suggested a complete reinstall. I have a lot of stuff on here, I don't want to reinstall unless they can prove it's my system and I need to to fix it.
I'm thinking they're just blowing me off and don't want to do anything about it. Is there anything I can do to prove it's not my system? (or prove that it is for that matter?)
Thanks
