Am i experiencing packet loss?

ok i dont know but my cable modem often disconnects itself. the lights blink then it goes back online.. after a couple of mins it disconnects agaIN! help :(

i dont think thats packet loss, i think your modem is just having problems connecting to your isp, might wanna call them up and tell them

why is it that some other months back then i didnt get disconnected. why is this happening now?

could be a problem with ur modem, could be the line hte modem is on, could be your isp having troubles

best thing is to call them up, tell them whats happening and see what they say, they'll prob have yah do a few tests

hopefully you'll find a solution

last month they cut me off for TOO MUCH traffic. and they even said unlimited use.. which is no limits. /me thinks shaw is gay.
but telus has limits so yeah. maybe thats why they want to screw my connection. i'll phone them later :rolleyes:

if they disconnected u for too much traffic, drop the isp and find a new one

ok this is the weird thing. ok after i got disconnected for the 100th time , i played cs with bots. after that i tried to play online. yea i can play online with people for sometime. i exited cs and went back to windows. i start browsing the web for a bit. there came the disconnection again

ok it is getting weirder now. instead of disconnecting.. i click on a page.. it loads. after a few pages. traffic lights not on but the modem is online. after awhile when it feels like going.. it works. this is too repetitive

i think its a modem problem

i have antivirus
i never bang on the modem
i use xp built in firewall and updated all critical patches

or maybe it is just xp itself?
