Well I am finally been told that I can get Cable. The question is should I let them install the line inside the house or can I go to Wally world or True Value and get the cable and run it myself? I rather run the cable to outside my self to save me $30 and if I can is there a certain grade of cable that I need to get?

Oh and I hope I post this in the right forum.

In my experience, I would let the pro's install it. What's 30 dollars in the big picture. Is it worth you time and agrevation to install it, then find out you did not make one connection correctly and have connection problems.

just my 2 cents

Let a pro do it. Most of the cable you buy from wally world is meant for a jack to TV connection. It is not meant to be a cable backbone for your house.

well I visted wally world and they do have the right type of cable you need which is RG-6 but I bought some from True Value which is a hardware store for .29 a foot. Now I am waiting for the cable company to show up tomorrow so they can run their line and test it all I beleive. I am very very happy tired of being a HPB.

I'd let them do it. Just be sure you watch em. Had a few of them do a sloppy job apprerance wise.

I'd let the pro's do it. I got my cable under a free install promotion. They installed a junction box on the outside, routed a new cable in the cross space under the house and did all the connections. The connections outside were covered to protect against the weather. All in all a great job...maybe I was lucky. The guy that did the work was a lead tech who knew his stuff. The had two problems; (1) I had was they tried to charge me for installing the NIC card in my PC, which I had already installed. So I'd double check the first bill. (2) I had bought my own cablemodem and had it ready when the installer arrived. It took the installer about a half hour to convince the office person to accept my serial number and MAC number of my cablemodem.
