Hey.

I just got some wireless equipment, and have had some troubles configuring some of the advanced aspects of it. I was wondering if somebody could help with suggestions as to howto solve these issues. Here are the specifics:

D-Link Wireless Router DL-713P - connected to a cable modem.
Win2kPro desktop w/Linksys (soon to be D-Link) Wireless PCI Card

My question in regards to port forwarding is as follows: I want to run an ftp server (on a nonstandard port) using RaidenFTPD. When I start up Raiden, the auto-config of my IP is my LAN IP, and nobody can connect to it. Which settings would I have to enable, both on the router, and in Raiden itself, to enable the FTP to run correctly? Secondly, there is a program (www.dragonstudios.com/apprentice) that requires me to listen on port 4747, and again I am unable to receive that call. Would I go about in the same fashion to enable that port as I would with my FTP?

PS: With my Linksys card, whenever I play mp3s, my connection basically drops. I had heard that this was a problem, but that a workaround may have been found. If you have any information on that, please lmk as well.

Thanks for your time.

Try this,

The computer running these services needs to have a static IP.

All you have to do with the D Link is forward whatever port you specify for your FTP service to your servers IP address. For example, if your servers IP was 192.168.1.100, then you would forward port 21 (standard FTP port) to 192.168.1.100. All traffic coming in on port 21 would be routed to 192.168.1.100.

Of course you would replace port 21 with your desired port. Since Raiden already detects your local LAN IP then I don't think any other configuration of Raiden is necessary. The problem is your D Link didn't know which IP to forward the FTP request to. Also note that running FTP on a non-standard port may be incompatible with some firewalls.
