I got a Linksys BEFSR41 router and I have a FTP server which I need and I can't have a FTP server cus my router don't like it.

What my aim is here is to connect my Laptop and PC to the web and still have a FTP server and use the router.

I have connected my CAT5 Cable from the cable modem to ethernet card and then second CAT5 cable from 2nd Ethernet Card to Router and then another CAT5 cable from router to Laptop.

Basically I can't get my internet from Laptop but can from my PC.
Uless you know of a way I can connect my laptop to internet via cable modem, but I really wanna use my router

Wired improperly is your first problem-. Cable modem to WAN port of router; then LAN ports to each of the attached PC's. No need for 2nd NIC any more. You must have had ICS installed before- remove it from all PC's.

For FTP to work, you then port forward port 21 to the destination PC running ftp. This PC hoever, will need to be set up with static LAN IP address, such as 192.168.1.2; but be sure then to change dhcp settings on the router to start handing out IP's AFTER this address.

this is the problem so I am using the Router to get the Laptop on the internet and keeping my PC so I can have my FTP server so it doesn't catch the router
