XP's clear type, a patch for ?

I would like to be able to get the "clear type" that Microsoft uses in XP for either 98 or 2000. are there any patches or ways of doing this? Microsoft does not have any plans to do so. I read a lot off the web and the clear type used on a LCD is supposed to reduce eyestrain a lot.
